School/Center Overview

The Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania is the oldest and one of the finest medical schools in the United States. Penn is rich in tradition and heritage and at the same time consistently at the forefront of new developments and innovations in medical education and research. Since its founding in 1765 the School has been a strong presence in the community and prides itself on educating the leaders of tomorrow in patient care, biomedical research, and medical education.



Duties

Manage proposal development, budget development, and related pre-award activities for a diverse sponsor portfolio. Manage post-award activities including account set up, monitor and review all sponsored projects expenditures including fund projections. Monitor and enforce compliance with sponsor guidelines and Uniform Guidance. Meet with principal investigators to discuss and advise on financial and HR issues related to their portfolios. Maintain salary grids and work with payroll coordinator to ensure faculty and staff are paid correctly. Assist in the preparation of effort reports.In addition to the above, the Grants Manager B will work more independently and actively participate in specific projects, including the annual budget submission. S/he will manage complicated grants including but not limited to program projects, training grants, and large projects with multiple subcontracts. Moreover, it is expected that the Grants Manager B candidate will have a greater grants management experience than the Grants Manager A candidate, such that s/he can make greater contributions, including engaging in financial analysis.The Grants Manager will report to the Senior Administrator in the department and will have a dotted reporting line to the PSOM Office of Research Support Services.



Qualifications

Grants Manager A: Bachelor's degree and 3 to 5 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, required.Grants Manager B: The minimum of a Bachelor's degree and 5 to 7 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, required.
